Behind the Lens: Houston High School's Fifth Measure - An A Cappella Choir Group Photo Session

One of my favorite things about Sprinkle Creative is getting to step into different worlds—especially when those worlds are filled with talent, teamwork, and music! Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Houston High School's a cappella group: Fifth Measure. And let me tell you... they brought it!

Harmony in Action

Houston High School's Choir Director, Mrs. Healy, reached out to us with the goal of taking a group photo of the 2025-2026 Fifth Measure members as well as to utilize the photos for submitting to competitions and for social media. A couple of days before the session, Justin and I scouted locations throughout one of our favorite photos spots, Crosstown Concourse. We sent some options over, and the a cappella group wanted to start off with some industrial vibes.

We love taking photos at Crosstown and knew the second floor would be a great space for the vibe (and the tall ceilings for our pop-up studio lighting)! We staged some traditional group shots, but also made space for fun, movement, and the little glances between friends that make these high school moments so real.

I'm a big fan of tethering my camera so clients can see the photos in real time. For some, it can feel funky to pose in front of a camera, but once you’re able to see the magic unfold in real time, it’s easier to really get into the groove! Mrs. Healy was also able to shine her director chops and help adjust the group to perfection!

Sweet Memories

Looking back through the gallery, what stands out isn’t just the cool location or coordinated outfits, it’s the overall Vibe: A blend of infectious energy, joy, and connection. This shoot reminded me that every group has its own rhythm. And getting to freeze those moments in time? It's something I hope they get to relive over and over.
